Why should a believer read God's Word daily? Let's talk about it.

Why should we read the Bible? What's the point? Ask 100 believers in Jesus Christ why they read the Word daily and you will get 100 different answers.

A lot of those answers for me didn't make sense. "I read to stay connected to Vine." "He speaks through His Word." "That what He wants me to do."

In my mind, I thought okay but that doesn't apply to me. My mindset was the Bible works for them but it won't work for me. Once I let go of that false belief. It changed my life.

For me, I learned the reason to read daily is because the Word of God is meant to

Prepare the heart- I began to see that I need Jesus. I can't do it on my own. I understood that I am a sinner.

Reveal His nature- I learned His true nature. Not the angry, judgmental God I thought He was. He is kind, and faithful. He is jealous ( not because He is angry, but because He wants to be the one I depend on because He wants what is best for me.)

He is also just (aka fair) and most importantly, He loves me and He loves you too.

Renew the mind- the more I meditate on the Word, the more my mind begins to change. Repentance means to turn, to change my mind. By continuing to be in God's Word, I have learned what true repentance looks like.

The Bible really is sharper than a double edged sword. It really does transform you radically. I learned that the Bible is exactly what I needed to encounter Jesus and find the love I had searched for my entire life and the grace of God which transformed me so completely.

Hebrews 4:12-13 ESV

[12] For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. [13] And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Romans 12:1-2 ESV

[1] I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. [2] Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
